Middlepunk – a world set in a backdrop of eternal medievalism, with somewhat more advanced achievements of that time, such as combat machines, crossbows, wind and water mechanisms. The genre has several other names. For example, Castlepunk and Candlepunk, derived from the words 'castle' and 'candlestick.' This subgenre has a significant drawback -
it is not so easy to come up with technologies that work with the materials available for that era, so that the world seems alive while remaining unchanged. But where scientific approach is lacking, magic always comes to the rescue.
Dungeonpunk (from 'dungeon') is another branch of Middlepunk, a medieval world where powerful magic flourishes, and adventurers are a recognized social class - the Main Heroes of a standard fantasy setting. An example can be the cycle of 50 books 'Richard the Long Hands' by Guy Julius Orlovsky (2001-2020) about the fate of an ordinary Muscovite named Dmitry, also known as ****** , who suddenly finds himself in a world reminiscent of an alternative European Middle Ages.
Here, alongside knights, kings, and ****** les, wizards, dragons, and other magical creatures live. Well, if we're discussing time travelers, we should start, of course, with the classics - with one of the first descriptions of time travel in literature - with Mark Twain's book 'A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court' from 1889. At the beginning of the novel, in a satirical spirit, it mocks chivalric romances about the Middle Ages, while in the second part, it shifts focus to the socio-political aspects of feudal life.

The book had and still has success and remains interesting to readers. A dozen films have been made based on it, such as the comedy 'Camelot Knight' in 1998 or 'The New Adventures of a Yankee at King Arthur's Court' in 1988 (USSR). For those who prefer more serious reading, it is worth turning to Connie Willis's 'Doomsday Book' (1998). This novel is even called science-fiction. There is no magic here. The book tells the story of Oxford student Kivrin, who ends up in England in 1348 during the plague epidemic.
A simultaneous outbreak of an unknown disease in 2054, from where Kivrin came, hinders her return home. For those thirsty for adventure and battles, but without wizards, not too dark, interesting, captivating, and historically informative as much as possible in a fantastic work, one can read the cycle by Sergey Sadoff 'Prince Voldemar Starinov.'
The young hero of this story - Volodya - was consciously transported to this foreign medieval world in the interest of science, and to heal from a deadly disease. He came well-prepared and not empty-handed. He wouldn’t want to change anything or get involved, but alas, life forces him to apply his knowledge in practice for the sake of saving new friends and the kingdom, where he is taken to work as a duke. For those who simply want to relax, there is the 1993 French comedy 'Aliens.'

At 40 years old, Franz Kafka, who had never been married and had no children, was walking in a park in Berlin when he met a girl who was crying because she had lost her favorite doll. They, along with Kafka, unsuccessfully searched for the doll. Kafka told her to wait for him there the next day and they would search for the doll again. They searched again the next day, but did not find it, and then Kafka gave the girl a note 'written' by the doll, which said: 'Please don't cry. I have gone on a journey to see the world. I will write about my adventures.' Thus began a story that continued until the end of Kafka's life. Kafka wrote a series of letters from the perspective of the lost doll.
During their meetings, he read the doll's notes, which described adventures and 'doll's chatter' that the girl found charming. During a trip to a sanatorium (he was ill with tuberculosis), Kafka bought the girl a new doll. 'It doesn't look anything like my doll,' the girl said. Then Kafka handed her another letter, in which the doll wrote: 'My travels have changed me.'
The little girl hugged the new doll and happily brought it home. A year later, Kafka died. Many years later, the grown-up girl found a letter inside the doll. The tiny letter, signed by Kafka, said: 'Everything you love is likely to be lost, but in the end, love returns in another way.'

Strength training has proven to be the most effective against insomnia. Research has shown that strength exercises are effective in combating insomnia, especially in older adults.

Scientists came to this conclusion after ***** yzing data from several clinical trials. They found that resistance training or using one's own body weight improves sleep quality more than other types of physical activity.
The ***** ysis also confirmed that aerobic exercises or combined training, including elements of strength, stretching, and cardio, also have a positive effect. Researchers remind us that sleep quality deteriorates with age, and every fifth elderly person suffers from insomnia.
Poor sleep increases the risk of serious health problems, worsens cognitive functions, and may reduce productivity. Previously, scientists suggested that physical activity helps cope with insomnia, but it was unclear which specific exercises are most beneficial. To find this out, they studied research published before October 2022, which compared the effects of physical exercises with regular activity, other treatment methods, or healthy sleep education.
A total of 24 studies involving 2045 people over 60 years old (averaging 70 years) conducted in Asia (56%), North America (16%), South America (16%), and Europe (12%) were included in the work. Every fifth experiment was conducted in nursing homes. Most programs involved moderate loads, sessions lasted an average of 50 minutes, and were conducted 2-3 times a week. Overall, the programs lasted about 14 weeks. The final ***** ysis included only studies dedicated to aerobic and combined training, as data on other types of exercises were insufficient.
The results showed that combined training improved the sleep quality score (GPSQI) by 2.35 points, while aerobic exercises improved it by 4.35 points. However, a meta-analysis taking into account the influence of various methods revealed that strength training had the greatest effect, improving the score by 5.75 points. Aerobic exercises raised it by 3.76 points, while combined training improved it by 2.54 points. Among alternative methods, healthy sleep education was the best, but it still fell short of strength training.
The authors of the study warn that the methods studied varied significantly. In some studies, the level of load was not specified, and certain exercises could be difficult for elderly people with limited physical abilities. Nevertheless, the scientists conclude that physical activity, especially strength and aerobic exercises, significantly improves subjective sleep quality compared to regular activity.
